SITIA: A very pleasurable small town in the east of Crete: nice waterfront and harbour, quaint streets and a fortress, many good tavernas, cafes, tasteful bars, shops and a sandy beach a few metres from the main seafront square. Active year round but not "touristy". Uncrowded. An excellent base to explore east and south-east Crete from.
