OUR REVIEW

Two, two-storey stone built houses, with veranda and courtyard on the edge of the old village of Petrokefalo. Overlooking sweeping grapevine and olive-clad hills, with open, panoramic views. Charming, evocative of Crete's history, the houses provide calm and relaxation.
Originally built at the end of the 19th century, restored in original style, these comfortable well-finished homes have a special atmosphere.
Furnished in traditional style with stone fireplaces, with a wood beam and ceiling mezzanine sleeping area. Each has its own central heating.

The village has one new good taverna ("Hayiati"), two active Kafeneia (open irregular hours, as all Greek kafeneia!) and nearby Voutes (3km) or Krousonas (8km) have tavernas with many good offerings for meals. Wander the villages of Agios Mironas, Kato & Pano Asites, monastery of Gorgolaini to its meeting with the E4 footpath. 3 km from Asites you will find the excavations of ancient Risenia. Visit Sarchos and its famous Honos cave, then on to the village of Krousonas.
Also close (15 km) for Heraklion and its shops, markets and city amenities, beaches and coastal route (Read our Heraklion feature).

A new horse-back riding outfit is available just 5 minutes from Agioklima, a great way to experience the beautiful countryside. You can be picked up at Agioklima if you wish. Coffee, soft drinks and meals are available at the riding centre.

APARTMENTS
Electra: 70 sq.m. A complete house, large balcony facing the hillsides beyond, fireplace, double bed in mezzanine, 1 bed and a sofa in living room. Kitchen: small fridge, mini-oven with hotplates, microwave. Terracotta tile floor. Bathroom with shower in the mezzanine & WC downstairs.

Euridice: 45 sq.m. A spacious studio with entrance and terrace on the village side, small balcony and windows with scenic view, kitchen with small fridge and mini-oven with hotplates, living area has 2 single beds (placed together or apart). Wooden floor. Bathroom with shower. (No fireplace.)

Niki: 50 sq.m. Entrance from spacious garden courtyard, fireplace. Kitchen: full size fridge and cooker, mezzanine with double bed. Terracotta floor. Bathroom with shower. Washing machine.

Kite: 70 sq.m. An independent house (restored in 2007), a few metres away from the other apartments. Large balcony with wonderful countryside views, across vineyards and to the distant sea. Spacious interior. Living room with fireplace. Kitchenette: mini-fridge, small oven, window to the view. Wooden staircase rises and opens into the bedroom, which has 1 double bed and 1 single bed, windows to the front (countryside) & back (village). Terracotta & wooden floors. Bathroom with shower.

All apartments have TV (Electra, Niki, Kite receive also the free satellite channels), coffee maker, basic kitchen utensils and cutlery. A barbeque is available for all guests to use for grilling al fresco.

Rates are per apartment, per night. They include all taxes and do not include breakfast. Heating (central heating/firewood) in the winter is extra,according to use/meter.
