OUR REVIEW

In the protected and ancient village of Anatoli, two different-in-size gorgeous village houses, classic, ancient and expertly restored. Each house is a gem and a delight of distinction - the smaller one is perfect for a honeymoon. The finest quality in a historic village, which dates from Venetian times, with plenty of Byzantine monuments in the surrounding area. Beautiful antique furniture, fittings and craftsmanship make both houses a home you would dream of owning...let alone staying in. In fact the houses have been restored with the ultimate attention to detail by one of Greece's experts in conservation and the preservation of buildings, monuments and villages.

Terraces are charming and make you feel part of the village, part of the history of the place, while at the same time offering dazzling views seeping down the hills and on to the sea on the south coast. You can drive to a beach in ten minutes, but this is somewhere to enjoy for its "Architectural Digest" qualities, finesse and architecture...for the village spirit and friendly nature; for the superb tree-surrounded taverna 3 minutes drive or 20 minute's walk away; for a bold stride into the village Kafeneio to say "yassou" to the locals or the village taverna "Aposperida" for tonight's local special dish; for the magnificent route you must surely sample as you come to the house or sadly wind your way back home one day (via the single point at which you can see both the north and south coasts of Crete).
If you sought a quality house to rent in Crete and never found it before - it now exists to pamper your senses.
For a large group or family, taking both houses provides privacy while allowing daily get-togethers, perhaps in the larger house (Pasiphae) or those delightful moments on holiday when you fancy visiting "the others" down the road!
The houses are 100 m from each other.

The bustling town of Ierapetra is a 15 minute drive, where you can buy anything you'd want and visit its restaurants and more bustling seafront and harbour. Charming coves and beaches line the coast heading east of the town.

CreteTravel.com guest experiences of Dorovinis Houses    [Click here to SHOW/HIDE]
We would like to thank you for making our wonderful trip to Crete so easy. Crete is truly a beautiful island inhabited by such lively and friendly people.
Although it was hard to leave the patio of the charming Dorvinis house, we spent every day driving the winding roads, being awed by one beautiful view after another. As for the arrangements you made, it was all great. At the Dorvinis house, the caretaker was waiting for us even though it was quite late when we arrived. Margarita was very nice and endlessly helpful.
And the house, it was beautiful and more than we expected. We really liked staying in that remote and quiet village, away from the bustle of a town. Crete is truly a beautiful island and we had a glorious vacation. Thank you again for all your help and we will recommend you highly to anyone we know headed for Crete.
Sincerely, Marcia Rackstraw and Deborah Burt
We had a fabulous time throughout, but what was special about Dorovinis was the ability to simply kick back and relax.
The driving instructions from Heraklion were first rate and simple to follow. The local lady that met us was very very friendly and helpful, even chasing down another English speaker in the village to ensure that we were happy. The follow up calls from the owner were also fantastic.
We didn't actually get up to too much while at Dorovinis. As I say, we spent a lot of time just relaxing. We read and ate on the balcony, had a couple of meals at the local taverna and drove down the mountain to the port one night. I also enjoyed a couple of lovely runs through the hills.

Thankyou very much for your expert assistance with arranging our holiday. We had a delightful time at Kallirhoe House.
Having called in to some of the resorts during our trip, we came to the conclusion that staying in the village house in fact provided us with a much more authentic and enjoyable experience of Crete, so we were very happy with the way things turned out.
I will be recommending you to anyone else I know who is contemplating a Cretan holiday! Thankyou again for your assistance.
Kind Regards, Anneliese Reinhold
Any visit to Crete would be splendid, so no worries there! The house was beautiful and very comfortable and the kitchen had every bit of equipment. I had two 'problems' both of which were communicated to the owner, in that the wind was really bad one night and the really expensive parasol took off and almost fell off the top sun terrace(!) and on the night before our final night I had a problem with ants in the bed. I understand that she is putting in sonic bug repellers.

Anatoli was rather remote and if I went to that area again, I would chose less of a drive. It does not have any shops at all even for bread and is good if you don't want to explore very far - rest and relaxation. We are both novice drivers abroad so 20 minutes of winding roads to get to the supermarket was a little fraught! Luckily, as I was house hunting, I was driven around quite a bit. am still pursuing my dream and making decisions about what is right for me in terms of area and plot in Crete. I would certainly use your services again and recommend you to others - I need more holiday days from work!!!
Regards, Margaret Shynn
We had a wonderful time. The people we met were very friendly and made our trip a memorable experience.
The Dorovini House was very nice with an authentic feel. We enjoyed exploring around the area. We loved the restaurant (taverna) the neighbors told us to try, it was just outside the village a few miles and had some of the best food on our trip. The mountains were beautiful in this area. We drove through many small mountain villages on our way to see Konososs (the ruins).
In Anatoli we saw authentic Greek life.
The only suggestion I would have for the Dorovini House is to either put an air-conditioner, or a heavy duty fan in the bedroom. The ceiling fan was too weak. [air conditioning is now available]
While we were there, the wind got so strong that the outside shutters would not stay open, (even when latched), for ventilation because they would bang around. It got very hot in the bedroom. However, we really appreciated the food that was there for us. Another great feature of the house, was that it had the best bathrooms we experienced on Crete. The house was beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!
