OUR REVIEW

Elia is a place you feel lucky to find. This building of age has been adapted to become a tempting inn. This is well-done. Rooms have character, old beams and stone give the feel of a generations-old quality home. Has some of the atmosphere of a smaller "Parador". Views towards Kolymbari and the peninsula and yet far out to sea from a lush green hillside.
If you need help becoming the relaxed person that Elia creates - the steam room or sauna will do the trick. Otherwise just enjoy the places to sit, food (requested in advance), lounge around the pool (which is wisely kept at bay from the main building and gardens).
Garden, fruit trees and an ancient and enormous oak tree you can sit under, complete the picture of perfect enjoyment.

Convenient for Chania (25 minutes) and visits to Deliana gorge, St John the Hermit's cave (amazing!), the Old Christian Rotunda church. Visit the oldest olive tree "in the world" (more than 2000 years old), from which they cut the olive wreath ("kotinos") for the Olympic marathon gold medalist, within a short walk from Elia (see these sights). Horse-riding is possible in the nearby Deres horse farm. There are many old villages within walking distance and a short drive. The nearest place to eat and enjoy refreshments is a 8 minute drive.
The beach and waterfront cafes & tavernas at Kolymbari are 10 minutes by car. The nearest beach is 6 km. The renowned beaches of Balos and Gramvousa, Falassarna, Elafonissi and Paleochora are available to explore in the area.
It is a shame to leave here....

CreteTravel.com guest experiences of Elia Inn    [Click here to SHOW/HIDE]
The holiday overall was excellent and we would certainly intend to revisit the island. We found your service very useful and would certainly use it again.
We cannot speak too highly of the Elia Inn, near Kolymbari. The staff were very friendly. The room was very comfortable and the food was first rate. We would certainly recommend it to anyone and sdtay there again ourselves. We also felt that we could have spent more than a week in that part of Crete. We would certainly like to see more of the western end of the island and also to visit the east.
Many thanks again for you service, Alan Brown
We had a wonderful time in Crete. The, Ellia was wonderful ( although hot water was a problem at times. You may also mention that the bath tube in the rooms is very small.) Other than those two small things it was a wonderful time.

The drive to Hania from Heraklion is one of the most beautiful I have ever encountered. The lodge right outside [Elia Inn] where we spent three nights was a delightful place, full of interesting guests and sensibilities. Dinner was disappointing, however, with no good options nearby.

Thanks for your email. All I can say is that everything was perfect, excellent service all round. Our stay at Elia Hotel couldn't have been better, wonderful staff! Particularly Maria the cook.

Elia, very nice location, people, breakfast... A bit disappointed for the room that was a standard room (@ less price Komis and Villa Archanes were much better).

We had a wonderful time in Crete and I believe that Elia has a lot to do with it! The place and the people at Elia made our vacation in Crete really special, and it was exactly what we were expecting to find!

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at "Elia". We were made very welcome, and our room was a delight, -especially the terrace. The weather was superb the whole week and we packed in a great deal of sight seeing and relaxation.

We were both thrilled with [both Akrotiri Hotel and] Elia – they were definitely our favorite parts of the whole trip, and we hope to visit both places again when we are in Crete. The staff at both hotels was very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, comfortable and pleasant, and the grounds and scenery at both hotels were beautiful.

The Elia Inn on Crete was absolutely amazing as were most of the staff.
The entire week was rather like living in a dream, so low key, quiet and unpretentious. Everyone was fantastically welcoming to all of us, we really appreciated that. We adored the dining terrace, the pool, the olive orchard, the food, the sensitivity of restoration and gorgeous plantings.
We only had two complaints and one was rather a large one. We had a room with two single beds with thick wooden frames. When the beds were pushed together there was a 6 inch gap in the middle and the sides of the woods frame. Not romantic at all! Also, the week we were there I think the regular cleaning lady was on holiday so the young ladies who took over from her were rather sloppy in the cleaning department.
I will also give Elia Inn a very good review and will send you the posting. Well, a special thanks to you Roger for a marvelous week and a superb little inn. Thank you for all your help. I've already told Micha he can take me back there any time. You provided absolutely great service and I will always recommend you to all of our colleagues and friends. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Warmest regards, Christine, Micha, Miss Daisy and Mister Grey
