Mare Nostrum Villas - Loutraki (Marathi, Chania)
OUR REVIEW Leave Chania behind for a while and return to your own
villa or apartment just above a small sandy beach with full, panoramic sea views and...there just out in the blue water an islet is visible. Whether in the
pool or on the all-surrounding balcony areas - there are always panoramic sea views. Early morning before the
others are up and about, you might just want to sink into one of the
leather sofas and alternate your glance between the pages of that book
you promised yourself to read for months and the vista through the
sliding doors
as the early morning breeze, the freshness of the sea wakes you softly,
gently. Mare Nostrum offers you a travel picture-book image of the great place by
the sea. A glass fronted restaurant just to the left of you - on the way to the
beach - which is 30 seconds away - serves your desired dish of the day. A cafe bar
provides coffees, drinks and light snacks. The sea is protected from any
rough waves and storms. Mare Nostrum is four different two-storey buildings. So if you
want the capacity of a villa for a larger family or group, take two of
the apartments that are one above the other and have the exclusive use
of one of the pools. The kitchen area, living room and bedrooms, all allow plenty
of magical bright sunlight in, tempting you towards the pool, the beach
or just to gaze out of the large windows at the view, a boat out at
sea, the islet outside. Decor is modern, spacious, light, bright, clean and designed to highlight the sea, the sky, the
views.
You should enjoy comfort on your travels, so every bedroom has
its own bathroom and there is a separate WC for visitors. A clothes
washing machine is provided. Good closet space, fair-sized bedrooms and enough overall living
space to feel very comfortable,
spacious (you don't need to go out just to break out!)...add the
terrace and pool areas and you feel free and un-crowded. Take the footpath down to the beach and feel the sand
beneath your feet....swim, relax, take a walk via a fresh juice at Mare
Nostrum's cafe and go back to see the others at the villa. Perhaps in
the afternoon you will just swim in the pool and watch the sea, enjoy
the picture of children playing on the beach below, watch the sky and
that one lump of a cloud reflected in that perfectly colored water. Nearby Marathi, a droplet of a village, has two fine sandy beaches and three waterfront places to eat. The above average and delightfully water's-edge positioned Loukoulos, serves very good salads and meals ranging from fish to meats, crisp courgettes and more (that is if you can manage to pass your very own Mare Nostrum restaurant which you can take a few steps to at any moment you choose). Chania, its shops, restaurants and cafes hugging the
Venetian harbour is 25 just minutes by car.

DISTANCES
We had a great trip to Crete and enjoyed our stay at Mare Nostrum.
Sometimes the very late night festivities at the taverna and beach bar were a bother - but otherwise the place was terrific.
Copyright CreteTravel.com - protected I have recommended Mare Nostrum to my friends, but advised them to avoid the nights of a full moon (that is when all night full moon parties are organized). We'll probably stay there again some time.Hugh Bareiss About these guest experiences RATES 2010 (rates include our Superb, All-questions-answered Personal service)
