Milia Traditional Village - Milia (Vlatos)
OUR REVIEW Created in the mountains, way above the road that leads from the north coast of Crete to the tropical beach at Elafonisi.
Has the atmosphere of an "alternative" place of this era, alternative in philosophy, without complete loss of comfort - clearly for the lucky few! THE ROOMS Triple rooms: Double & single or 3 single beds, en-suite bathroom with shower. Quadruple rooms: These can be 2 double rooms with interconnecting door, sharing 1 en-suite bathroom. Or, 2 rooms on two levels, with internal staircase. 1 bathroom en-suite upstairs and 1 bathroom downstairs, but outside. All bathrooms with shower. Upstairs balcony. Suites: open plan layout, living area with 2 sofa-beds, cast iron wood stove,
bedroom in gallery, private courtyard and terrace.
The stay at Milia was also very nice. The buildings were so nicely put together in the environment - it nearly looks like a settlement in a Harry Potter film !! My friend enjoyed one day as a kitchen maid, baking bread, preparing the peaches for the marmelade and then cooking straberries for jam. She was in close attendance of two gentlemen that usually worked in the kitchen and that obviously were very pleased by their female company !! :)
Gro Hekleberg Well, we love Crete!! Every time we go we only wish we could stay longer & there are always so many possibilities. We wish we had enough money to buy some land near them & become cheesemakers or something, it's always good to be there, the people are so friendly and we always learn so much & eat & drink too much & our son loves Zoran & the Albanian goatherders. Our favorite places on this trip were again Milia (even better than last year since we made friends with everyone and worked with them a bit as well) & our son was adopted by all of them and became an honorary worker. He got to ride the tractor, feed the animals & to help build new stairs. I definitely think that for us that staying in room number one was key since it was large & had a separate living room and to be honest with a three year old we had meals brought to us there and when Rowan slept at night we could sit outside in our private patio and have some wine & stargazing & peace, eating in the restaurant is wonderful when you don't have to chase a little one the whole time! Steffen Schreier Our trip to Crete was wonderful. Milia was great, everything we thought it would be and more (though a little dark in the rooms, but I think that comes with the territory when you go in October). Thanks for asking, and we will recommend you if we know anyone else is headed to Greece. Amy Shire Great. Copyright CreteTravel.com - protected we only spent 2 days in milia but i found it very nice the people are extremely friendly and the food was very good i think one should stay longer than 2 days to get used to the quietness - it just takes a while to calm down from the usual rush of life the road up to milia is beautiful and worth a trip on its own overall we really enjoyed crete a lot and would recommend to anyonethanks for asking, Erhard & Joanne Milia is probably the one of the most relaxing places I’ve been to in the world – the food was amazing, the guys running the hotel very easy going and welcoming and the setting just stunning. I’ve been recommending it to lots of friends! Rachel Neame Our trip was very nice. Elia and Milia were really perfect. Milia is such an incredible place: inspiring project, beautiful rooms, great food. I really appreciated your personalized assistance. The directions to each one of the places were also really useful. It was perfect. Thank you very much ! We will definitely visit Crete again and will contact you. Best regards, Sophie Varvoglis Both places (Villa Creta & Milia) were magnificient and everybody has been very attentive to our comfort during our stay. Philippe Malarme Our stay in Milia was amazing. We couldn't say enough about the place. The accommodation was beyond our expectations. The food was exemplary, the warmth and coziness of the dining area added to the experience. Finally the service was so refreshing. Lisa Mainieri We had a great time during our visit to Crete in October. We especially liked the Milia traditional village - what a unique place! If we were to go again I would probably rather stay in smaller, out of the way places - the equivalent of Milia.
