OUR REVIEW

"On The Rocks" has a direct sea view. Modernity and comfort. New, compact and light double rooms, one bedroom suites and the interesting penthouse suites. All with sea view balconies (2nd floor rooms, however, look across a recently added cable which divides the view).
All rooms have air conditioning, TV, mini-bar, telephone and direct internet access. There is a large lounge bar area and ample terrace seating - service is rather casual (you may have to look for someone to serve you at some times of day). A buffet breakfast can be enjoyed by the sea.

A three minute walk from the centre of the town, makes this very convenient.
Paleochora itself offers an extensive sandy beach, windsurfing, whale watching trips, dolphin spotting excursions. Many cafes with individual styles and atmosphere; from the cafe where Greek coffees are prepared using the traditional hot sand method, to a vegetarian restaurant, or one late afternoon perch with an eagle's eye view across the beach, to the numerous tavernas. A cool cafe at the Kasarma fortress offers views across Paleochora.

So the next thing is choosing: a standard room with balcony (slightly limited in space), a suite with extra space or... one of the wood-beamed, fireplace and skylight featured, fully furnished two-bedroom penthouse suites. If you can - treat yourself to one of the penthouse suites.
For this part of the south coast On The Rocks Hotel is one of the better hotels.

On the Rocks Hotel was excellent - clean rooms, attentive service, great location etc etc, and in fact we spent another two nights there on our return trip the following week.

Paleochora is a lovely town, full of character and with all amenities. On The Rocks Hotel was an excellent base - good quality accommodation, great sea views, in a very quiet yet convenient location. It has no pool (but the beaches are not far away) and is too small to have activities (I never saw the bar being used), but it was still the highlight of our tour of Crete and we'd definitely go back again. But I would prefer to have the option to book accommodation without breakfast, as there are a lot of other nice places to eat in the town.

We had a nice stay at Hotel on the Rocks, but I would like to make you two suggestions: 1. Do something about the terrace doors: we felt like beeing blowing off our bed for a few hours; 2. It is nice to have telvision at the room, but with only one (sharp) program and no CNN or BBC or Eurosport you better take it away.

…Likewise the hotel On the Rocks was delightful. At first we were not so sure about Paleohora (perhaps it was because we liked Chania so much) but we definitely fell into the mood of the place by ther second day and thoroughly enjoyed the “laid back” atmosphere; we could nurse a “Nescafe frappe” for hours in an outside cafe while watching the street activity.
The trip to get there and back was a beautiful adventure once we got used to the road, stopping for several mountain goat and roadside shrine photos. Thanks again for your assistance and recommendations. I will gladly refer you to other travelers when the occasion arises.

I found your customer service to be great. The hotel itself was ok. I understand Paleochora doesn't really have high-end accomodations, but I thought for the price that we paid that we would get more. The room was small. There didn't seem to be too may guests in the hotel, but the front desk weren't too helpful. There was one woman who was, and another who wasn't. It would have been nice also, since there seemed to be only one other room occupied, if they had upgraded us to a larger room as a courtesy. I like your website though, and would consider using it again.
