"Thalassa House" Apartments - Plakias
OUR REVIEW Some places seem to have one place that's just right to stay, that soars above the rest - that transforms the experience of staying there. This is a delightful wide-view, warm, south coast home away from home. Picture windows, balconies, space. Thalassa House earns its name ("sea house") because of its views of the sea starting just below your balcony and stretching with Plakias' wide arched bay, into the sea beyond. Modern finishes, highly convenient design make this a comfortable and functional place to stay and be independent. Proudly
standing high enough above sea level for the fine views, but not a
noticeable climb, so you can walk to
and from the central parts of Plakias in about 10 minutes. More
peaceful and well, more select.
Though the beach in front of Thalassa house is a mixture of pebbles,
sand and rock,
Plakias itself has one of the largest arcs of sandy beach on the south coast.
With its quiet harbour and good walking trails, interesting nearby
villages such as Myrthios, Rodakino and other quiet beaches like
Damnoni. Easy access to Frangokastelo and Sfakia for its
own interesting features, onward to Anopoli and if you will a 15
minute boat trip to the delightful car-less village of Loutro.
Rethymno can be visited from Plakias in about an hour by car or bus. THE APARTMENTS & STUDIOS Apartment "Ioanna" (50 sq.m.): On the top (second) floor. One bedroom with a double and a single bed. Firstly, Plakias was wonderful. The apartment was superb, with a great sea view. I think perhaps we could have got away with a smaller one for the 2 of us & perhaps made a saving, however that was our choice & certainly no regrets. Plakias itself was a good place to stay, with choices of taverna's & as a good location to look around. The week went too quickly for us.
Overall we had a great holiday. Everything you organised for us went like clockwork, so we were very grateful. We will definitely return to Plakius for a starter next time.
Stuart Jupp ...The apartment was as described, clean and well fitted with all the necessary amenities for our two weeks holiday. The owner was polite and helpful. We loved the place, and the kids enjoyed it a lot. I will probably return. I will be definitely contacting you for a reservation. Kind regards, Razvan Duta We had a wonderful time. The apartment in Plakias was fantastic the description was spot on. Plakias was wonderlful although there were plenty of eating places it was unspoilt. I enjoyed a walk on the beach early in the morning, and then with the family later. The beach reminded me of my childhood beaches (except in the sun), children playing, swimming ...uncomplicated - great. We has a wonderful holiday, thank you for your help. Cretetravelcom is brilliant. We will pass it on to people. Regards Paul Condell We liked [both Komis Studios &] Thalassa Apt (very spacious apt - great balconies - could have sat there all evening drinking ouzo & just watching). Pete & I have been to Crete 6 times between 1993 &2002. We enjoy snorkeling. The beach just in front of Horizon Beach Hotel is rocky and we enjoyed snorkeling there -quite a variety of fish - and very convient. Plakias itself is a lovely resort and we liked being on the quiet end of the town. Also walked up to Mirthios one evening to Panorama Taverna for a meal, the view & bourzouki music. The people we came in contact with at Horizon Beach hotel were also friendly & helpful. Thanks for making the booking of our lovely holiday so quick & easy. Susan Baker We were satisfied about the apartment. Copyright CreteTravel.com - protected Nice place, great view. What could be better? There's a watercooker in the apartment, but there were no mugs. Little efford I think. And two teabags next to it would make it complete. We had a nice short stay and made some nice walks.Kim Tax We much enjoyed our fortnight's holiday in Crete. Thalassa House was a very nice and quiet place. I was somewhat dissapointed about the bad equipment of the kitchen -things you needed were missing and you always had to ask for them- but all in all we had a nice stay. I can assure you if we ever intend to come to Greece again I will refer to you for help if necessary. Norbert Schaefer ...Apartment was impressive better than expected as was stavros himself etc, stay great ate at diff place every day, enjoyed ostraca bar in the eve…excellent informative and friendly service you (CrTr) provided and will certainly use again when we consider anywhere in Greece. When we arrived at the hotel and met Stavros who was very relaxed and laid back we thought the surroundings were very nice, he gave us the key to the apartment and pointed us in the right direction. As I opened the door, Helen my wife walked in, her first words were this is beautiful we have made an excellent choice, the accommodation was clean, beautifully and stylishly decorated and the view from the balcony was spectacular. The apartment was spotlessly maintained on a daily basis by Stavros's housekeeper who did an excellent job, with regular changes of the bed linen and towels, we could not fault it. Bob Bright Steve and I are back in the US and thank you very much for arranging accommodations for both Thalassa [and Roubini]. They are both wonderful places. Thalassa with it's view of the Plakias bay, watching the moon rise over the water from our wide balcony was much more than I expected. Crete is another world away from New York but, always in my heart, I keep these wonderful memories. You know we will be back! And of course, I will contact you when we return. Until then, all the best! Gloria & Steve Meehan About these guest experiences RATES 2010 (rates include our Superb, All-questions-answered Personal service)
